Our brand is a simple, modern derivation of “Intellectual Property Services for the 21^st Century.” We are a Millennium company founded in 2000 to deliver a one-stop shop for all IP needs and from this starting point we advise on how best to protect, enforce and exploit IP Assets to achieve competitive advantage and peace of mind.

A broad mix of experienced IP professionals are employed to deliver this commercially focused, holistic advice.

At ip21 our aim is to provide first class intellectual property work using a pragmatic, business-orientated approach. We understand that to get the best for our clients in a tough commercial world we must be proactive and responsive. We add value to our IP service based on our personal experience in fields such as bio-technology, electronics, mechanical engineering, defence and aerospace, chemical engineering, computer science plus a number of other fields. We also employ commercially trained, professional account managers and business advisers who work in conjunction with our IP professionals to offer an all-round approach to our client relationships.

Whilst founded in 2000, ip21’s predecessor firm had been in East Anglia since 1980 and the firm’s London office can draw an “in practice” line all the way back to 1908 due to the purchase and merging of cases from Kings Patent Agency.

This long history of successful practice provides a rich heritage of experience to draw upon as ip21 drives its culture for continuous improvement and building for the future.

Now closing in on two decades of operating in its current form, the firm has grown to occupy five fully staffed offices in the UK, two outreach partially staffed offices and an EU base, we currently represent over 3,500 clients, manage an international network of over 500 overseas associates and has protected key IP assets for some of the world’s biggest brand owners and product developers.

Melanie Harvey is a full-time member of our trade mark team and is an active member of CITMA, INTA, ECTA, and AIPPI.  She is a regular attendee of INTA’s Annual General Meeting each year since Hong Kong.  And you will often see her at CITMA’s Spring Conference and CIPIL’s Spring Conference each March, and no doubt elsewhere when topical trade mark issues are being discussed.

She is also an active INTA Committee Member who over the last four years has been involved in their Non-Traditional Marks (NTMs) Committee. Her first 2-year term as a team leader heading up the designated tasks within her team of 6 people whilst in her second two-year term her responsibility within the NTMs Committee increased ten-fold when she became Chair of INTA’s Europe and Central Asia NTMs Sub Committee overseeing over thirty people and six teams.  Currently as her second two-year term is set to end as of 31^st December 2019 she is waiting to hear where her next Committee placement will be.
