Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Jonathan M Hernandez has joined the firm’s Houston office as an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation group. He joins Blank Rome from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.

Hernandez concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling, with a focus on complex patent and trademark disputes. His practice covers a wide range of technologies and industries, including telecommunications, electronics, software, medical devices, biotechnology, animal genetics, and video games.

Hernandez has represented clients in federal district courts throughout the country and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His professional experience as an engineer for two multinational companies gives him a unique perspective to approaching complex, high-stakes IP matters, allowing him to better understand and meet the business and legal needs of his clients.

Admitted to practice in Texas, Hernandez received his J.D., cum laude, from South Texas College of Law and his B.S. from Texas A&M University. During law school, Hernandez served as the assistant information editor for the South Texas Law Review and was inducted into the National Order of Scribes for his legal writing accomplishments. He also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Frances H Stacy in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Outside of his practice, Hernandez serves as a regional director of the Giles S Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition for the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the moot court committee chair for the Houston Intellectual Property Law Association. He also serves on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee for the Houston Bar Association and is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and Mexican American Bar Association of Houston.
