Gowling WLG is pleased to welcome Shane Hardy and Brigeeta Richdale to its Intellectual Property Group. Based in Toronto and Vancouver, respectively, Hardy and Richdale bring decades of experience helping global brands protect, expand, and enforce their IP assets across the tech, manufacturing, retail, and entertainment sectors.
“Shane and Brigeeta bring outstanding strategic range to our team,” said Shelagh Carnegie, head of Gowling WLG’s Intellectual Property Group in Canada. “Their arrival strengthens our ability to provide clients with seamless, end-to-end brand solutions that extend well beyond protection—into growth, enforcement, and market impact.”
Hardy works with brand owners to structure and scale their IP assets, regularly leading domestic and international transactions, portfolio acquisitions, and licensing programs. An experienced litigator and registered trademark agent, Hardy also advises on clearance, management, and enforcement, helping clients align their IP strategy with their commercial goals.
Richdale works with clients to respond to IP enforcement issues that involve regulatory scrutiny, reputational exposure, and legal risk, including matters involving counterfeit goods, fraud, insider trading, online infringement, and internal investigations. Accredited by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a former criminal investigator and prosecutor at the British Columbia Securities Commission, she works with enforcement agencies across various jurisdictions to manage sensitive, high-stakes issues with precision and discretion.
