Chanel, Inc. has secured additional time to oppose a US trademark application for DD covering perfumes, fragrances, cosmetics, and personal care products.
The fashion and beauty company filed a request for an extension of time with the US Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) in connection with an application by Duke & D’Or LLC.
The application, serial no. 99472513, was filed on October 31, 2025, and published for opposition on July 14, 2026. It covers Class 3 goods including perfumes, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, cologne, fragrances for personal use, scented body spray, scented body lotions and creams, and non-medicated skin and hair care preparations.
The mark consists of two stylized, interlocking capital Ds, with the second D reversed and positioned asymmetrically against the first.
According to the TTAB record, Chanel filed a request for an extension of time to oppose the application. The extension gives Chanel until November 11, 2026, to file an opposition.
Another potential opposer, Dana Heritage Finanz St. Honore Beauty LLC, has also sought additional time to oppose the application. Its current deadline is September 12, 2026.
Neither Chanel nor Dana Heritage has yet filed a substantive opposition against the Duke & D’Or application. The TTAB record therefore does not establish the grounds on which either company may ultimately challenge the application.
The potential dispute brings together three parties with interests in the beauty and fragrance sector over the same two-letter designation.
For Duke & D’Or, the next significant development will be whether either potential opposer converts its extension into a formal TTAB opposition.
Chanel’s extension runs until November 11, while Dana Heritage’s deadline arrives earlier, on September 12.
Until an opposition is filed, there is no determination by the TTAB that the DD application conflicts with any existing trademark rights.
