June 23, 2025 – Buchalter is pleased to announce that Cara Thornton has joined the firm as a Shareholder in the Denver office. She is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group and brings over two decades of experience handling complex commercial, employment, and intellectual property litigation matters in courts and arbitration forums nationwide.
“Cara is a talented and seasoned litigator, and we are thrilled to welcome her in Denver,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer of Buchalter. “Her diverse background, both in private practice and government service, makes her a valuable addition to our litigation team and to the Firm at large.”
Thornton represents clients in complex disputes from inception through appeal, with experience in business, employment, and IP litigation. She also provides strategic trademark counsel, from brand management to prosecution and enforcement, including representing clients before the TTAB and in federal court.
In addition to her litigation work, Thornton serves as outside general counsel to startups and mid-size companies across industries, advising on daily legal operations, employment matters, contract negotiation, and the protection of proprietary information and trade secrets.
“Buchalter’s entrepreneurial culture and national platform were key factors in my decision to join the firm,” said Thornton. “I’m excited to expand my practice with a team that shares my commitment to high-quality, business-focused legal counsel.”
Earlier in her career, Thornton served as Assistant Attorney General of Yap State, Federated States of Micronesia, where she advised the Governor on policy and legislative matters and handled the State’s civil litigation.
“Cara is an outstanding addition to our growing Denver office,” said Robert Hinckley, Office Managing Shareholder of Buchalter’s Denver office. “Her litigation experience and trusted counsel on day-to-day business issues are great assets for the clients we represent.”
