Houston, Texas—November 16, 2023—The International Trademark Association (INTA) honored Rachel Armstrong, Director at Gowling WLG in Dubai, United Arab Emirates as a recipient of the 2023 Members for a Better Society Award.
The INTA Members for a Better Society Award is presented to an INTA member organization or one or more individuals of a member organization(s) who have demonstrated during the year how brands positively impact society and build consumer trust through initiatives relating to: (a) corporate social responsibility; (b) diversity and inclusion; or (c) pro bono legal services.
Ms Armstrong has been deeply involved in and is a current member of The Women’s LeadershIP Initiative (WLI) project team, including her most recent role as a panel speaker during the WLI Workshop, “Shifting the Scales: Creating Allies by Inviting a Balanced and Retainable Support Structure,” at this year’s Annual Meeting in Singapore. Ms Armstrong has served on the Indigenous Rights Committee and will serve on the Brands and Innovation Committee next term.
“I am honored to have been awarded the INTA Members for a Better Society Award and express my deepest gratitude to the Association for this recognition. Over the last 12 months, while actively involved in The Women’s LeadershIP Initiative, I have seen firsthand the fantastic efforts made by INTA as an organization to address the challenges females still face in the workplace, within both IP and more widely,” Ms Armstrong explained. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work as part of The Women’s LeadershIP initiative and all other committees I am involved with as part of INTA.”
INTA President Jomarie Fredericks offered her congratulations, “INTA thanks Ms Armstrong for her commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility throughout our organization. Ms Armstrong has helped foster a more equitable workplace environment through all of her focused efforts.”
This year’s INTA awards were presented at the Association’s 2023 Leadership Meeting in Houston, Texas, which is taking place through November 17. Virginia Cervieri, Senior Partner at Cervieri Monsuarez (Montevideo, Uruguay), and Radhika Raju, Partner at Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP (Washington, D.C., United States) also won the Member for a Better Society Award.
