New York, New York—November 14, 2023—The International Trademark Association (INTA) is pleased to announce the election of Dana Northcott as the 2024 President of the Association and the Chair of its Board of Directors.
Heading Amazon’s intellectual property (IP) team, Ms. Northcott is Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Amazon.com, Inc. (USA). In this role, she leads the attorneys and legal professionals who support and protect Amazon’s brands and IP portfolio, including the company’s trademarks, domain names, generic Top-Level Domains, and copyrights. Ms. Northcott devises Amazon’s IP strategies and policies across the business globally, partnering closely with Amazon’s marketing, security, and public policy teams on brand protection, anticounterfeiting, advertising, marketing, internet governance, and litigation. She also represents Amazon on the Governing Board of Directors for the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment.
Ms. Northcott will assume her one-year term on January 1, 2024, succeeding Jomarie Fredericks, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Intellectual Property and Brand Counsel at Rotary International (USA).

Before coming to Amazon, Ms. Northcott was Legal Counsel for Agilent Technologies, and an Attorney for Howrey LLP in Menlo Park, California, and London, England. She has a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice from the University of Bristol in England, a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University.
Ms. Northcott is an Amazon Diversity Legal Team Executive Co-Sponsor, a distinguished member of the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Trademark Public Advisory Committee, a Founding Governing Board Member for the Association for Creativity and Entertainment, a member of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers Intellectual Property Group, a Board Member of the PNW Chapter of Chiefs in IP, and a Founding Board Member of the Washington State Chapter of Intellectual Property Association (WIPA).
With INTA, Ms. Northcott currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Board and is Chair of the Planning Committee. During her tenure as an Association volunteer, she has served on a wide range of committees and project teams, including the Trademarks and the Internet Conference Committee-Registration Practice and DNS Administration Subcommittee; the Internet Committee-Domain Disputes, Ownership and Whois subcommittee; in addition to many years on the Board where she worked on each of its committees from Audit to Compensation and Benefits; as well as Executive; Nominating; and Finance. Ms. Northcott has also been a member of the Annual Meeting Project Team in multiple years, played the role of the Advocacy Group liaison, and was a part of the IP in Space Task Force.
The Board elected Ms. Northcott and the 2024 INTA Officers during its quarterly Board meeting, held on November 14, during the Association’s 2023 Leadership Meeting in Houston, Texas, USA. With more than 1,600 registrants, it stands out as the largest Leadership Meeting in the Association’s history.

- President Elect: Elisabeth Stewart Bradley (Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, USA)
- Vice President: Deborah Hampton (The Chemours Company FC, LLC, USA)
- Vice President: Daniel Zohny (Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Switzerland)
- Treasurer: Sergio Barragan (PepsiCo, Inc., Mexico)
- Secretary: Debra Hughes (Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, USA)
Mr. Sanz de Acedo expressed his confidence in this diverse and dynamic team, nominated to lead INTA through 2024 with an eye on the Association’s future, and is looking forward to a productive year ahead.
