Keystone Law has welcomed Intellectual Property litigation partners James Tumbridge, Robert Peake, and Marcus Collins to the firm enhancing its IP offering to clients across multiple sectors. Joining from Venner Shipley and Irwin Mitchell respectively, the partners will add to Keystone’s 40-strong team of IP lawyers. Additionally, both Tumbridge and Collins have expertise in advising around electoral law including issues under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, Representation of the People Acts, electoral campaign funding issues, and representation in court.
Tumbridge is an IP litigation lawyer with a specialism in data protection. He has litigated all IP rights before the courts of several countries and is a qualified arbitrator and mediator, listed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office, CIArb, Clerksroom and a number of other ADR providers.
His practice covers all types of intellectual property disputes, and ancillary issues in commercial litigation, employment, and insolvency affecting intellectual property rights. His work also extends to compliance in regard to data protection for advertising and promotions, as well as issues with data capture for those dealing in virtual currency and customer data. James advised the UK Government on the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Online Safety Act 2024.
Robert Peake has extensive experience in contentious and non-contentious matters covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs, and confidential information, as well as broader commercial and regulatory disputes, often with multi-jurisdictional aspects.
He assists clients with commercial arrangements for the creation and exploitation of IP rights, including development agreements, licenses, and assignments. He has considerable experience advising on research and development projects, including the protection of confidential information and contractual arrangements with consultant inventors and other third parties. He also has experience advising clients on marketing and promotional matters, comparative advertising, prize draws, and the use of social media.
Peake also advises clients on a range of regulatory matters including data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He regularly assists clients in navigating data protection laws and related contractual arrangements, often with particular regard to international data transfer issues.
Collins is an IP lawyer with a particular focus on the fields of UK, EU, and international trademark prosecution, trademark portfolio management, branding, and infringement matters. He also advises on internet domain names, industrial design, copyright, defamation, and social media platform content issues.
Collins’ clients include well-known brands in the pharmaceutical, sports franchising/merchandising, social media, and financial services sectors. He has previously been instructed by the National Football League (NFL), Pfizer Inc., and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
