Leading European IP firm welcomes trademark partner in Munich

Jan RetherIntellectual property firm Mewburn Ellis announces the appointment of Jan Rether as a partner in the firm’s expanding Munich office. The hire will further enhance the firm’s trademark capabilities in the European market.

Jan is an attorney-at-law with vast experience handling all trademark related matters including applications, clearance searches, oppositions proceedings (including appeal proceedings up to the General Court and the European Court of Justice, as well as to the Bundespatentgericht). He handles complex litigation matters on behalf of his clients, as well as settlement negotiations and delimitation agreements.

Further to this, Jan also has experience advising on various unfair competition law and copyright issues. He joins the firm from Grünecker where he spent six years, having previously worked at Boehmert & Boehmert.

Jan’s arrival comes at a period of significant growth for the Munich office and follows the hire of Stephan Hoefs last year.

Mewburn Ellis opened its Munich office in 2017, offering a full range of patent, trademark and design services, including drafting, prosecution, oppositions, litigation, IP strategy consulting and portfolio management.
