London, Cambridge & Munich, 3 April 2024 – Reddie & Grose LLP, the internationally renowned firm of European and United Kingdom patent, trademark, and design attorneys, is excited to announce the appointment of Steve Howe as its new Chairman, alongside a roster of senior promotions to support the growth of its UK and European teams. The company has also introduced the new role of Principal Associate, recognizing the high levels of talent, expertise, and commitment to delivering excellence for clients across each of its market sector teams. 

New partner

Gavin Dundas becomes a salaried partner, acknowledging his track record and dedication to supporting his clients, partners, and colleagues. Gavin, who works out of the Cambridge office, joined the company in 2013 and was named a rising star in Managing IP’s 2022 rankings. He handles work in the physics, engineering, materials, and consumer products fields, where he is regularly involved in drafting, filing, and prosecuting UK, European, and international (PCT) patent applications in technical areas including electrochemistry, medical equipment, and semiconductor devices. Gavin also has experience in patent searching and preparing infringement, patentability, and freedom to operate opinions.

Principal & senior associates

In support of its continued development and growth, Reddie & Grose is delighted to introduce the newly created role of Principal Associate. The position of Principal Associate recognizes an individual’s high levels of demonstrated experience, expertise, and willingness to train, support, and mentor others. Typically, candidates for the role will have at least 10 years of post-qualified experience and a proven track record of delivering against the above attributes.

The first cohort to achieve this status are Mark Bentall, Ian Dowling, Andrea Civera, Andy Williams, and Catherine Nursaw, who together represent all of the market sector teams.

Completing the senior promotions, Katharina Aulinger-Fuchs and Dan Sullivan have each been elevated to the role of Senior Associate. Katherina is a qualified European Patent Attorney who works out of the Munich office, with a particular focus on pharmaceuticals. Dan is a Chartered UK Trademark Attorney, helping clients build and maintain strong brand portfolios across a wide range of industries.

New Chairman

Steve Howe joined Reddie & Grose in 2007, having previously been a partner in the Lloyd Wise Group. He brings a wealth of experience to the role, including of prosecuting patent applications before the UK and European Patent Office, where he made his name handling cases relating to complex technologies and excluded subject matter.

He inherits the Chairmanship from Alice Findlay, who remains a Partner in the firm. Speaking on his appointment he says: “During Alice’s time as chairman, the firm developed remarkably due to significant investment in our people, our support services, and our systems. I look forward to continuing to build on that development. These are exciting times for Reddie & Grose as we continue to evolve in line with our firm-wide values.”
